Criminals on Saturday night stabbed to death son to Malawian High Commissioner to Kenya Brigadier Marcel Chirwa.

Dennis Chirwa, a journalist, was reportedly severally stabbed in the head and body and died on the spot near his college, St Pauls University, in Limuru, Nairobi, Kenya police told The Standard yesterday.

police2Chirwa, a former employee of Malawi’s Capital FM radio, was a third year student at the university.

According to police, his attackers robbed him of his mobile phone and other unknown personal effects.

“His colleagues said they had been at a local bar, watching football at about 7pm when the incident happened. The attackers escaped soon after the incident and no arrest has been made so far,” the newspaper quoted police as saying.

The police said they are yet to know the motive of the murder, but suspect there was a fight between the deceased and his attackers.

“We were called and informed there was murder at the bar and when we arrived there, we found the man had been stabbed all over the body,” a senior police officer who visited the scene told the newspaper.

Efforts to talk to the Malawi Embassy in Nairobi for comment proved futile as phones went unanswered after several attempts.
