SOS Children’s Villages Malawi has organised a charity golf tournament tomorrow at Lilongwe Golf Club.

The tournament, according to SOS sponsorship ad public relations coordinator Charity Kubalasa-Ndeule, is aimed at raising funds for its core business of caring for children in need.
She said the golf tournament will be patronised by business and donor communities.
“Each [participating group] will have four players at K75 000 team. We expect to raise more than K2 million. This is the first time SOS has raised money through golf. Mostly, we depend on partners to support 6 000 children in 1 781 families of origin,” said Kubalasa-Ndeule.
Stallard Mpata, convener of the tournament and also board member of SOS Children’s Villages Malawi, said the event will bring together SOS Children’s Villages partners and friends and like-minded institutions who share the plight of the less-privileged.
“It will be a day of sportsmanship, fun and, of course, helping our work for children in need and their families. We are expecting a large turnout from our partners, well-wishers and people with a passion for child development,” said Mpata.
SOS Children’s Villages Malawi operates in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu. Its services for the orphans and vulnerable children include education, vocational training, parental skills, nutrition support, Health and HIV/Aids.
