Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) is today expected to begin play-offs at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) ahead of the National Basketball Championships slated for November 22 in Lilongwe.

According to Sozobal publicist Kondwani Kabowa, the play-offs will be conducted in two weekends and will involve the top four teams in the 12-team league.

Currently, Bricks, Lox360 and Magang’a have made it into the slots for the national qualifiers for taking the respective top three positions.

But Crazy Warriors must have prayed for the downfall of Cobbe Barracks, who played against Changalume Barracks in their last Sozobal encounter as we went to press.

“The best three teams during the qualifiers will make it to the national finals where they will tussle for the national crown against Central Region and Northern Region teams,” said Kabowa.

Defending national champions Lox360 will be the first to take it to the BYC court against Magang’a today before Bricks sort it out against either Cobbe or Warriors.

Tomorrow [Sunday], Bricks will tussle against either Cobbe or Warriors in Zomba in a fixture which preceds one between Lox360 and Magang’a.
