SRCL interim chairperson Stanley Mtuwa revealed this after an executive meeting that was attended by vice-chairperson Duncan Manda, general secretary Steven Gondwe, publicist Makhosi Nyirenda, member Peter Jailosi and ex-official member Eric Kazembe in Blantyre on Saturday.

On the chess centres, Mtuwa said they would partner with some hotels and entertainment clubs to set up chess games which their corporate customers and tourists will be playing at a fee.

“On the other hand, we will work hand-in-hand with mobile phone network providers in the country so that individuals should be paying something to challenge and play against our best chess players on-line.

“We feel that would help us generate money for various development activities in the league in addition to membership fees from the players,” said Mtuwa who took over the mantle from Stanley Mpinganjira last month.

Mtuwa said if all goes well, the initiative, which aims to supplement the Lab Enterprises and the Mdina Business Solution’s sponsorships, is set to start in the next two months.
