The Southern Region Football Committee (SRFC) has announced that finals for the Presidential Initiative on Sports (PIS) for the region will be held on Monday, May 14 2012.

SRFC chairperson Raphael Humba said this in an interview on Saturday. He also disclosed that the venue for the final will be Zomba Community Centre ground.

“I can confirm that the finals for the regional Presidential Cup will take place on May 14 2012,” said Humba.

He added that finals for districts such as Blantyre, Mangochi, Phalombe and Machinga will take place between May 12 and 13.

The dates for the PIS regional as well as district finals have been rescheduled following the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika on May 5 2012. Malawi National Council of Sports directed that all sports activities be postponed in respect of the 30-day mourning period set aside by government for the fallen head of State.

Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division sides Prison United and Evirom FC are expected to lock horns in the regional finals that sparked verbal war in the run-up to the postponed date on May 9.
