South succeeds in polls trade-off

Southern Region Football Committee (SRFC) and Southern Region Football League (SRFL) have agreed to trade-off positions ahead of today’s polls for regional associations.

This comes in the wake of a failed similar arrangement in the Northern Region.

According to a list released by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) yesterday, save for the committee membership, in the South all the other key positions are set to go unopposed as SRFC head Raphael Humba has no challenger for the post of chairperson, so too SRFL chairperson Trouble Kalua who is set to be ushered in as vice-chairperson unopposed.

In the Centre and North there are tight races for positions of chairperson and vice-chairperson.

In the Centre, CRFL chairperson Dini Josaya-Banda faces CRFC head Austin Beaton-Ajawa while their respective deputies Charles Kapichi and Daniel Mphepo contest for the post of vice-chairperson.

But CRFL GS Bernard Chiwiruwiru-Harawa is set for a stroll in the park as he has no challenger for the position of GS so, too, CRFC treasurer Pyson Likagwa who has no contender for a similar position in the amalgamated body.

In the North, NRFL chairperson Lameck Khonje is set for a showdown against his NRFC counterpart Peter Chavula. Sikweya Nyasulu and Zuza Nyondo compete for the post of vice-chairperson.

NRFL GS Alfred Gunda contests against his NRFC counterpart Masiya Nyasulu for the post of GS whereas Chauka Mwasinga and Dingani Nhlane vie for the post of treasurer.
