Spain retain Euro honours

Listen to this article

This was certainly the stuff of what dreams are made of. Spain retained the Uefa Euro Championship in spectacular fashion following a 4-0 deserved triumph in Kiev Sunday night.

Two classic first-half goals from David Silva and defender Jodi Alba put the Spaniards in the comfort zone before substitute Fernando Torres and his Chelsea teammate grabbed a goal each to seal a resounding victory for Spain in a breathtaking finale monitored on SuperSport.
Spain drew first blood 14 minutes into the game when Silva beautifully headed home.
With only four minutes to half-time, Alba claimed the second goal for the world champions before the two late strikes from Torres and Mata. It was a historic win for Spain who became the first team to win the European championship back-to-back.
Italy’s wonderkid Mario Balotelli was reduced to a mere spectator.
Such was the luxury for the Spaniards that they turned the final moments into show-boating.
