Be Forward Limited, sponsors of Be Forward Wanderers FC, have reviewed roles for the club’s chairperson Gift Mkandawire and general secretary (GS) Mike Butao.

In a statement, the Japanese second-hand vehicle dealer said the reviewed roles are aimed at improving the team’s operations.

The statement states that Mkandawire should be responsible for managing the club, including players, staff, supporters and executive committees, revenues, expenditures and performance, among others.

On the other  hand,  Butao will be tasked with understanding and protecting the  sponsorship and  contract partnerships the team has with other Japanese firms.

Be Forward  has further clarified that Butao has also been assigned other duties such as  marketing of the company in Malawi and identifying new business opportunities for both the club and the sponsor.

“Please make sure that these [conditions] are adhered to,” reads part of the statement.

The sponsor has since urged the two “to work together in tandem and complement each other as their success will result into improved sponsorship year after year.”

Reacting to the development, Mkandawire said: “Every organisation wants to improve on operational efficiencies and clubs are not left out.

“For the sponsors, this is the outline they would want to follow  to improve Wanderers operational efficiency for the good of the club.”

Butao said as long as the conditions are for the good of the club, he has no problem.
