Sportsmen’s Association will on March 29 hold a big-walk in Blantyre to raise funds for Teveta trainees graduation, the association’s secretary Mussa Sanudi has said.

The players’ welfare body has stepped in to help former and current footballers following their failure to pay over K1 million to the Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education Training Authority (Teveta) where they learnt different skills such as bricklaying and carpentry.

The walk, expected to be graced by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) officials, will start from Limbe Post Office to Blantyre Town Hall, Sanudi said in a statement.

“The purpose of the big-walk is to inform players in all regions of our country about the aims and objectives of the association and form committees. [We also want to] sensitise all players to the importance and significance of contracts,” he said.

The funds will also be used to enlighten supporters on their actual role.

Those wishing to help can use the association’s Malawi Savings Bank Chichiri Branch account number 202 484 44 76 001.
