St. James CCAP of the Blantyre Synod will today conduct a charity golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

According to the church’s fundraising committee chairperson Frank Jomo, the event aims at raising at least K2 million for the construction of the K400 million multi-purpose complex, which among other things will house an Under-Five clinic.

“We are constructing a multi-purpose complex which will benefit people from Zingwangwa, Chilobwe, Manase, Nancholi, Mpemba and Green Corner townships regardless of their religious affiliations. Once completed, it will not only change the face of Zingwangwa but also facilitate development activities around the areas,” Jomo said.

He said at least 24 companies and individuals have already contributed money to the tournament while others have pledged support.

“We are humbled by the support received from the corporate world as well as individuals but we still call upon others to assist us,” he said.

This is the second time the church has organised a fundraising golf tournament at BSC as they conducted a similar event on August 22 last year. Then, they managed to raise K2 million.
