St Patrick’s Parish celebrate patron’s day

St. Patrick’s Parish of Area 18 in Lilongwe will today celebrate its Patron’s Day.

The mass will be led by Archbishop Remi Ste Marie of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

The renowned St. Patrick’s Choir will sing during the event. Lunch, traditional dances, poetry, drama and games will also be part of the day.

Saint Patrick’s Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March.

It is named after Saint Patrick who is the most commonly recognised of the patron saint of Ireland.

The day was made official by the Catholic and Anglican churches.

For Christians, the day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
