St Pius releases video collection

St Pius Catholic Choir has launched its Yesu Wandisankha DVD at an event curtain-raised by Balaka-based Alleluya Band on Sunday.

The unveiling of the 11-track volume at the choir’s backyard, St Pius Parish in Blantyre, buoys the group’s efforts to buy modern equipment. It raked about K1.3 million during the morning church services.

During the full-scale release in the afternoon, the choir mesmerised the patrons with the cover track Yesu Wandisankha which centres on the calling to serve Christ in different ways.

To add the icing, Alleluya Band leader Cos Chiwalo took the patrons down the memory lane. The Afisi a ku Ntcheu hitmaker played the timeless hits of the band’s founder Paul Banda and the late Paul Chaphuka.

The shooting of the DVD took the choir to different places, including Lake Malawi.  It brims with attractive visuals and melodies.

The launch was graced by St Pius Parish priest Father Benito Masuwa and Attorney General and Minister of Justice Ralph Kasambara. The minister donated K300 000 to the event through his wife.

According to the choir’s chairperson Dominic Mhango, the group plans to relaunch it in Lilongwe next month.
