She said: “Our K5 million contribution towards the fundraising golf is our way of complementing government’s efforts and all Flames partners in helping the team realise its dream. As a willing stakeholder, we must put up efforts to make the team financially secure.”

Malange said the bank appreciates the Flames’ achievements which saw the team qualifying for the 2022 Afcon.

She said: “There qualification is a feat we all cherish here at Standard Bank. We promise to keep Flames in our hearts as they prepare for Cameroon 2022.

“We know the journey for the Flames doesn’t end at qualification. It continues through group and knockouts stages. As such, they need all the support they can get so they get far in the tournament.”

A member of the Flames Afcon resource mobilisation task force, Thoko Chimbali thanked Standard Bank for being true partners of football.

He said: “We really are thankful and appreciative to Standard Bank for this contribution towards the Flames.

“Government and Fifa have contributed K926 million, but the total budget is at K1.5 billion.

“So, we have a deficit of K574 million. We hope to fill this gap with the fundraising golf this Saturday. “Standard Bank has set the ball rolling with the K5 million. We promise Standard Bank that the team will reward you with a good performance.”
