Ahead of the Joy of Jazz (JoJ) concert with Earl Klugh and Peter Mawanga in Lilongwe, five Standard Bank customers had an early taste of what to expect when the bank flew them to Johannesburg for the Joy of Jazz South Africa version.

JoJ SA took place in Newtown precinct in Johannesburg from   August 22 to 24. The concert attracted internationally acclaimed jazz artists such as South Africa’s Abdullah Ibrahim, trumpeter Terence Blanchard and celebrated pianist Ahmad Jamal.

The bank’s head of marketing, Chimwemwe Matonga, said the customer treat was organised as an expression of gratitude to the customers for their unwavering support and loyalty to the bank.

He said there are a number of exciting goodies and surprises in store as the bank continues to make strides with its customer-focused strategy.

“We are a strong and leading bank today because of the support and loyalty from our customers. We organised last weekend’s trip so that our customers appreciate and enjoy world-class jazz in South Africa,” he said.

The customers that flew are Mahesh Ghedia, Mr. and Mrs. Biziwiki and Mr. and Mrs. Hausi. They were accompanied by the bank’s personal and business banking head, Margaret Kubwalo and corporate banking manager Issa Edward.

This year, Standard Bank Malawi brings US-based jazz sensation Earl Klugh for Joy of Jazz II which is scheduled for September 21, at the President’s Hotel in Lilongwe. Earl Klugh will be supported by Malawi’s own Afro-pop musician Peter Mawanga.
