Standard Bank pledges continued sports sponsorship
Standard Bank has reaffirmed commitment towards sports development through sponsorship this year.
The pledge was made by the bank’s new marketing head Chimwemwe Matonga in a statement released on Thursday.
He also announced that Standard Bank will pump K7 million (about $17 500) into hosting golf tournaments this year.
“Golfers should look forward to a series of exciting tournaments at major golf clubs in Malawi. Once again, we have lined up fantastic prizes for our champion golfers,” said Matonga.
He stated that after a year of impressive performance on the local market and continued success on the continent, Standard Bank is set to return to the greens to thank its customers for making the bank number one.
To this effect, the bank has invited golfers to a major invitational tournament at the Blantyre Sports Clubtomorrow (Saturday).
Matonga said tomorrow’s tournament will provide Standard Bank with an opportunity to celebrate its successes with customers and thank them for supporting the bank to maintain its pole position in the market.
“As for the football fraternity, something delicious is also in the cooking and Malawians should watch this space for more announcements,” he said.
For 20 years, Standard Bank has been a major sponsor of a number of major sporting disciplines and is popular with its annual Knock-Out Cup.
