Standard Bank Malawi will hosts a golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club tomorrow.

The event, which is expected to attract a field of 72 players, will be played under the auspices of ‘Business Online’ (BOL), a market-leading online banking service offered by the bank.

Standard Bank head of sales in global markets division Gray Kazima says the bank will engage its existing and potential BOL customers in a bid to understand how they relate with the service in their daily endeavours.

“Standard Bank continues to engage its customer base, of which a good number are golfers. We are excited that Business Online has channelled us all to this beautiful golf course to showcase our skills and commitment towards the sport.

“Through this tournament we want to impress the notion that our world-class services and products are a point on which golf and business can always find common value,” he said.

Kazima further notes that the bank strives to create value for the golfing community all the time.

“A transaction banking platform like BOL allows us to serve our customers anytime and anywhere, be it in their offices, golf course and even at home. Secondly, golf is a sport that is played globally as such services under BOL will allow our customers to handle their financial matters when they participate in international events,” he says.

BSC golf captain Keta Mulwafu expressed gratitude to Standard Bank for returning to their course after a long absence.

“We are excited to welcome back Standard Bank to BSC. As one of the country’s top banks it is nice for them to get involved in sponsoring the sport. Golfers need such kind of motivation from our partners in the corporate world if we are to collectively improve our standards,” he says.

Mulwafu said the bank also hosted a golf tournament at BSC earlier in the year,  but it was specifically for ladies.

BOL—available in English, Portuguese and French—gives customers instant access to the entire Standard Bank Group banking portfolios, in 19 African markets across services, countries and currencies. Customers have access to the bank’s online Investor services, international trade, global liquidity management and e-market online trader solutions.
