Standard Bank unveils new kit for Malawi’s Top Eight teams
Standard Bank on Friday unveiled new uniforms to be worn by the eight teams that are taking part in its Top Eight Knockout Cup in Malawi.
The ceremony took place at the bank’s headquarters in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
Among other dignitaries present at the function were Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, Standard Bank head of marketing Linda Kachingwe-Sisya, the competition’s vice-chairperson James Mwenda and representatives of the top eight teams.
“We believe that if the teams are well dressed, it acts as a motivation to perform to their possible best,†said Kachingwe-Sisya.
Mwenda thanked Standard Bank for living up to their promise. He appealed to the teams to properly look after the uniforms.
“In the Super League, you play 35 games using the same uniforms. You can manage to do the same with these sets of uniforms,†said Mwenda.
FAM also commended Standard Bank for the uniforms which carry the bank’s logo.
“We are thankful for dressing the teams. It shows how much you value this competition,†said Nyirenda.
Big Bullets vice-chairperson Austin Kasito thanked Standard Bank for what he described as a ‘kind gesture’.
“If you look at the economic situation in the country and the pathetic conditions the clubs are in, the donation is priceless. Two sets of kits for each team. This is something wonderful and we appreciate the kind gesture,†said Kasito.
