Stansfield Motors pledge to bounce back bigger in golf

Stansfield Motors has pledged to return into serious golf sponsorship next year.

The giant motor-vehicle sales dealer’s general manager (South) Mike Khomani made the commitment during prize presentation of the Wednesday ball pool which they sponsored at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

“It’s good for us to be back here at BSC and we value your presence and participation.

“We wish we could do more, but it’s tough these days, our economy is bleeding.

“We used to sponsor golf at a bigger level in the past and this is a sign of a comeback and next year, we will be back with full force,” he said amid applause from the golfers.

Adril Guarino, who is enjoying a rich vein of form, won the tournament after amassing 23 stableford points.

The 15-handicapped golfer attributed his success to practice. He thanked Stansfield for sponsoring the ball pool.

His runner-up was Furkan Gani (12h/c) who had 21 points. On third position was Levison Kapito (14h/c) with 19 points. He counted out Edward Kauka (19h/c) while Sope Kaira (11h/c) was fifth with 18 points.

Guarino was also nearest to the pin on hole 5 while Gani had the longest drive on hole 8.

In the ladies’ category, immediate past captain   Connie Muguvu-Karuku (15h/c) emerged champion with 17 points followed by Carol Banda (18h/c) who had 15 points.

BSC golf vice-captain Andrew Ngomwa hailed Stansfield for sponsoring the event, saying: “We at BSC are really grateful for the kind of gesture you have shown us, we do not take it for granted.” n
