The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has extended home matches ban for Silver Strikers from six games to the whole first round of next season while slashing their fine from K1 million (about $2 857) to K750 000 (about $2 142).

Sulom revised the punishments after Silver appealed against an earlier disciplinary committee determination of their violence-laden match against Epac a fortnight ago.

“The [Appeals] committee condemns Silver Strikers to total fines of K750 000 and stadium ban for the whole of first round of 2013/2014 TNM Super League, but not more than six months considering the economic meltdown being experienced by most clubs, but condemns violence and hooliganism in strongest terms,” wrote Sulom general secretary Williams Banda in a press statement yesterday. The committee met on February 21 2013 in Blanytre.

The committee recommended to the Malawi Police Service to monitor the suspended sentences of Nowa Rojasi, Dan Mhango and Denis Kachikho during games. Epac’s K150 000 (about $428) fine over the conduct of its fans was upheld.
