Sulom hears clubs’ cry on fixtures

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) says it is revising TNM Super League fixtures following concerns raised by some clubs.

The top-flight league runners’ general secretary (GS) Williams Banda said they have since asked clubs to give their input.

He said: “This has been done to align and address observations made by the clubs.”

The Sulom GS said in effecting the changes, they are considering issues such as financial challenges faced by the clubs and lack of adequate venues.

The Nomads were on bye at the weekend

“A number of teams are not sponsored and as per their requests we have had to allocate them back-to-back matches instead of just fulfilling one fixture,” said Banda.

Last week, Be Forward Wanderers lodged a complaint to Sulom for being put on bye when they had played fewer games compared to other teams.

Said the club’s GS Victor Maunde: “We were not allocated a game at the weekend and yet we have played only two games while others have played three matches.

“We hope that the move by Sulom will address such anomalies.”

The previous week, Blue Eagles also raised a similar concern.

The first-round kicked off on November 28 and is scheduled to conclude on March 21 with the second-round slated for April 17 to July 5.
