“Unless other unforeseen circumstances crop up, we are keen to follow the schedule right to the end.

“In coming up with the fixtures, we took into consideration international engagements such as the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and 2018 World Cup qualifiers,” said Somba-Banda.

League leaders and defending champions Big Bullets will set the ball rolling on Saturday with a tricky fixture against Mafco away at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa which will be the launch game for the second-round.

The People’s Team stands proudly at the summit of the flagship log table with 32 points—six points above second and third-placed Azam Tigers and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers—who have 26 points apiece.

Apart from having the same number of points, Tigers and Wanderers are also tied on goal difference, but are separated by goals scored.

Tigers kick-start their second round campaign away in Lilongwe where they will face Kamuzu Barracks and Epac at Civo Stadium on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The Nomads will host Civo United at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

Nine matches have been lined up in the first week.

The Blantyre derby, which features age-old rivals—Bullets and Wanderers—is slated for October 3 at Kamuzu Stadium.
