Wilderness Safaris Malawi will from October 12 to 15 host a musical fête dubbed the Moon-Rock Festival (MRF) at Chintheche Inn in the northern Malawi district of Nkhata-Bay.

Wilderness Safaris were one of the founding members of the Lake of Stars Music Festival, which was first held at Chintheche Inn 2008.

Warren Baty, operations manager for Wilderness, said there will be live bands and DJs to entertain patrons.

“The festival was a success, so much so that we gave it up to professionals to run it. And now, we will be hosting three full-days of music at Chintheche Inn,” said Baty.

She said the Lake of Stars Music Festival ran successfully every year, hosting great local bands and a range of South African and European bands, but chose not to operate this year due to the political situation in Malawi.

“When we heard about this, we decided to put together another festival to again give Malawi the yearly festival that we have all come to love,” Baty said.

According to her, the aim of the festival is to give Malawians an opportunity to listen to great music and also allow local musicians to showcase their talent.

“The line up at the moment is tricky because we want to surprise the audience. We have about eight local bands signed up already,” she explained.
