The setting is the 1960s through the 1990s and the venue is Sunbird Capital’s Mulanje Room.

It was throwback time as scores of fans reminisced good old days when Afro hairdos, bell bottoms, maxi skirts among others, were the in-thing for fashion aficionados.

Kalimba-Band

With old school hits blasting from the speakers of TnT disco, the room was totally transformed into a hive of activity for the oldies.

Kalimba Band, dubbed the Comodores due to the fluffy wigs, showed its versatility in coming up with fine cover versions of hits from Love Aquarius, New Scene, Makasu, Les Wanyika, Oliver Mtukudzi, Allan Namoko, Lucky Stars among others.

From the patrons’ reaction, surely some took the time to practice old school dance moves like break-dance, robot dance—complete with head spinning, back spinning and moonwalking. Certainly, the other fans were just stars of these dance routines back then.

To spice up the event more, Sunbird gave out swimming, gym and lunch vouchers as well as the top prize of two nights for two at a Sunbird hotel of one’s choice.
