Sunbird to invest K1.5bn in hotel renovations

Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE)-listed hotel chain, Sunbird Tourism Limited has said its hotels in Lilongwe Salima and Mzuzu will undergo renovations to improve and make them more comfortable for customers.

Sunbird board has since approved K1.5 billion (about $2.3million) for renovations of Sunbird Lilongwe and Sunbird Mzuzu hotels.

Sunbird Tourism Limited chief executive officer Rodger Gardner told Business News renovating Sunbird Lilongwe is top priority for the hotel chain.

He said: “If we are to continuously offer better services we need to improve some things in our hotels; hence, the decision to set aside K1.5 billion for renovations.

“Most of these funds will go towards refurbishing Lilongwe Hotel, but Sunbird Mzuzu and Livingstonia Beach Hotel in Salima will also be refurbished.”

Gardner said Sunbird Lilongwe is set to be turned into one of the best hotels in the country. n
