She said the packages, set to roll out in January next year, will be inclusive of excursions, accommodation and flights across the listed hotel chain’s nine destinations in Malawi at promotional prices.

Kanjadza said: “As a leading and largest brand in hospitality, our focus has been further opening up Malawi as a destination to international and regional markets. This partnership with Ethiopian Airlines is part of addressing our efforts in destination marketing.”

ET country manager Nessebho Hailu described the partnership as critical in the promotion of Malawi’s tourism industry through Sunbird Tourism packages across the world.

He said as tourists will be booking their tickets, ET will simultaneously be selling Sunbird Tourism packages and enhance tourists travel experience for Malawi.

Said Hailu: “Through this agreement, we believe we can improve tourism growth in Malawi. Ethiopian Airlines has more than 125 flight destinations across the world [and] we will be selling destination Malawi throughout all our offices across the world.
