Super Cheaters were yesterday crowned Monolux Central Region Hockey champions at a function that took place at Monulux offices in Lilongwe.

Monulux branch manager Deepak Gill presented the trophy and the cheque worthy K300 000 to Cheetahs coach GreemeKanada.

In his speech, Gill said his company is always happy to be associated with the sports of hockey and re-affirmed Monulux commitment to see hockey improve.

“We have been sponsoring hockey for the past 14 years. In the past, hockey used to be popular in the region, but over the years the sports has not been as active as is the case in the Southern Region,” said Gill.

On his part Kanada thanked Monolux for their support. They are one of the few companies that continue to take the sport of hockey seriously.

“I thank players for their effort that has made us win the league. Special mention to captain Gift Msukwa who has strong leadership skills on the pitch,” said Kanada.

Central Region Hockey League (CRHL) chairperson TisungeKandulu also expressed gratitude to Monolux for the sponsorship, but appealed to more companies to come.

‘Monolux has been the pillar of hockey in the region and we are appreciative, but we appeal to more companies to come and compliment the efforts done by Monolux. We need to have more tournaments for the good of the sport,” said Kandulu.
