Super League relegation battlers seek redemption

Relegation battlers Dedza Young Soccer Saints and Airborne Rangers will be hoping to resurrect their TNM Super League survival bid this afternoon when they face Kamuzu Barracks and Azam Tigers respectively.

Recently Dedza were being backed for survival after they held Bullets to a one-all, shocked Blue Eagles 1-0 and beat United.

However, their quest for survival suffered a massive setback after registering double losses to bottom-of-the-table Fisd Wizards and inconsistent Be Forward Wanderers.

The losses left Dedza just a point above the relegation zone with 26 points from 26 points.

Meanwhile, the Saints coach Milias Jegwe Pofera is optimistic that they will recover from the setbacks by beating Kamuzu Barracks at Civo stadium.

Kamuzu Barracks are on position five with 36 points from 26 matches and the Dedza coach expects a tough fight from a side that is targeting to finish in top six and earn automatic qualification into the Standard Bank Cup.

“Kamuzu Barracks is a much organised side and we are anticipating massive resistance from them. However, we are hoping to win the game,” he said

During their first meeting, Dedza, who are placed 12th on the log table, beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-0.

At Kamuzu stadium, Airborne Rangers will have to upset Tigers to enhance their survival chances which suffered a knock after being trounced 3-0 by Red Lions last week and 2-1 to Mzuni two weeks ago.

Rangers are stuck in relegation zone after amassing 25 points from 26 games while Tigers, who went 10 games without a win before beating Fisd 1-0 last week, are seventh with 35 points from 25 games. n
