National Association for People Living with HIV and Aids in Malawi (Napham) has drilled support group leaders in Mangochi in Covid-19 preventive measures.

Speaking on Wednesday at a workshop in the district, Napham acting executive director Paul Manyamba said the training sought to empower persons living with HIV with Covid-19 preventive messages.

He said: “This is part of the Covid-19 national response targeting people living with HIV.

“The pandemic has effected most people, including persons living with HIV due to weak immune system.”

A support group leader Laston Chilipa from Lonjezo Support Group in Traditional Authority Mponda commended Napham for the training.

“The training has come at the right time when some people are discouraging persons living with HIV from visiting hospitals to access antiretroviral drugs,” he said.

The training was funded by National Aids Commission.
