Surestream Academy’s fine run in the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Division One continued at the weekend when they once again bagged full points.
On Saturday, they struggled to beat Superior Halal 2-1 and on Sunday they saw off yet another spirited challenge from Mitole with a 4-2 win at Kamuzu Stadium which they have turned into their slaughter ground.
Following the wins, Surestream shot to 69 points from 26 games, 22 points ahead of second-placed Black Stars, who, however, have played four games less. Mangochi Police are third with 46 points from 24 games.

Surestream’s technical director Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda said he is now optimistic that they are on course to win the league.
“We are left with six games before we wrap uspthe league and if we can register at least three more wins, then we should be in the comfort zone.
“The weekend games were very tough and we were lucky to win both,” said the former Flames captain.
In the match against Superior Halal, Surestream’s talisman Tony Biasi drew first blood in the 15th minute, but Superior, who are under the tutelage of Trevor Kajawa, were resilient and disciplined, matching the league leaders pound for pound.
Superior equalised through Mwai Kampezeni with a powerful shot and from then on, the academy outfit lived on edge and another effort from Kampezeni, who was arguably the man-of-the-match, was denied by the post. Surestream snatched the winner in the dying minutes through Edwin Carlos.
On Sunday, Mitole scored first through Mac Sabawo and they led 1-0 at interval, but Surestream equalised through Biasi and then went on to take the lead through Carlos.
Carlos was on target again later on and Talekeleni Joseph scored the fourth. James Laudoni scored the other goal for Mitole.
In the Premier Division, Cobbe Barracks trimmed leaders Chikhwawa United’s lead to nine points after beating White Bullets 4-2 in Zomba to take their tally to 66 points from 29 games.
