Synod commends communities on development projects

The CCAP Livingstonia Synod, through its Education Department, has hailed communities in Mzimba for active participation in development projects.
The synod is currently implementing the Star School Project aimed at constructing girls changing rooms and toilets for both boys and girls in the district.

Speaking at an open day at Chizimya Primary School on Saturday, the synod’s Education Department project coordinator Vincent Sichinga observed that community involvement played a crucial role in the progress of the project which started last December.
He said, apart from mobilising communities, they also empowered them to take duty-bearers to task.
“For instance, we advised members of the community [around Chizimya School] to ask for female teachers from the district education office and they were given one,” said Sichinga.

The synod is implementing the project in partnership with Loudon Teachers Training College, Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (Fawema), Foundation for Childrens Rights (FCR) and Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM).
