The country’s hip-hop artist, Tay Grin, and Afro rock/reggae band, Mafilika, are next month expected to travel to Glasgow, Scotland, where they are scheduled to perform.

The artists will be traveling to the European nation courtesy of Lake of Stars (LoS) international arts festival organizers, who will be hosting a Scotland-Malawi concert on July 26 as part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

According to the LoS, at the concert, which will also be used to promote their forthcoming festival slated for Mangochi in September, Tay Grin and Mafilika will perform alongside Scottish, British and Swedish artists.

“We will be taking Mafilika, Tay Grin and The Very Best to perform a 2 hour set with Scottish hip hop group Stanley Odd and Algerian-British rising

star YADi,” announced the Lake of Stars organisers this week.

In an announcement made on the Lake of Stars Facebook page on Monday, they added: “…this will be the biggest Malawian music show to ever take place in the UK….”

The Very Best is a Swedish-based duo that comprises a Malawian vocalist Esau Mwamwaya and Swedish DJ and producer Johan Karlberg.

Speaking The Nation on Tuesday, Tay Grin said he was excited about the Scotland concert, saying: “It’s a great chance to promote the country and my career. I am looking forward to it”.

The award-winning rapper also hinted that after his performance in Scotland, he will have “a few more shows” in England.

Tay Grin, however, did not shed more light on those shows saying “I’ll be able to give more details at the end of this week”.
