Malawi’s rapper Tay Grin was recently on show at the Lake Niassa Triangle of Stars festival in Mozambique in a show which also attracted artists from Tanzania and Malawi.

A Mozambican publication, Diario de Mozambique, said Tay Grin (real name Limbani Kalilani) two weeks ago joined Tanzanian Abdul Aquiba and used the same stage as several Mozambican acts.

The publication shows the festival is organised by the Provincial Directorate of Tourism of Niassa just across on the Eastern shores of Lake Malawi.

In an interview, the self-acclaimed Nyau King said the guest of honour at the festival in Matengula was the governor of Niassa Province.

“It was an honour to represent Malawi since I shared the stage with great artists in that country, including Carlos de Lina, Wilson Oless and Kastelo Bravo who is the biggest Mozambican at the moment,” said Tay Grin.

He said the festival celebrates cultures and music of the three neighbouring countries.
