Ugandan comedian Herbert Mendo Ssegujja, popularly known by his stage name Teacher Mpamire, will return to Malawi next month with three shows in the country’s three major cities.

The comedian last performed in Malawi two years ago when he starred alongside her compatriot Anne Kansiime in Blantyre.

However, this time around, the job to bring laughter to Malawians will solely be on his shoulders with planned shows in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu between June 21 and 23.

Event management agency Qoncept Creative, who are organising Mpamire’s tour, through their manager Qabaniso Malewezi, have confirmed the planned shows.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, Malewezi said they are currently finalising some arrangements about his trip.

“From the first time that he was here, he has always said that he wanted to come back. We believe that is a good opportunity for us to get him here. We know local comedy fans across the three cities are excited as well,” he said.

Malewezi added that there is a chance that some local acts will be taken on board to form part of his supporting acts as they aim at adding more colour and variety to the shows.

“We are trying to tie up few arrangements such as securing the venues. That is why I cannot reveal the places now. But I am sure that by Wednesday all details will have been clear and made public,” he said.

Many Malawians, especially Mzuzu residents, showed their excitement with the comedian’s second coming following an announcement that was made by the arts and entertainment agency through its Facebook page yesterday.

Wezi Nyamsuku Chirwa commented: “I cannot wait for the Mzuzu show,” while Prosper Anto Favour simply said: “Without fail I will be there.”

Mpamile, who is a high school teacher, was in 2016 named discovery of the year at the African Youth Awards held in Ghana. He is a holder of a bachelor of arts degree and also studied drama at Makerere University in Uganda.
