The Lilongwe-based youngsters have been performing together since last month, but say they hardly knew what each had in store. Their latest performance featured energetic performances by Mike Maseko, Mwanache, Manton, Metamore and Miyazaki as well as  Ndili Ndekha songstress Rustica Kapito, aka Capital Girl, and Feel My Music diva Joyce Nthenda, aka Joy Fresh Joy.

However, the show took a new twist when Queen Complex (real name Pempho Chikoleka) took over the microphone.

Sporting a blue pair of trousers and long braids covering her bare chest, the 19-year-old left the audience dancing and singing along—a compliment to her soft voice and breathtaking jive.

The topless diva is a sister to Cholapitsa rapper Physix (Noel Chikoleka) and her crowd-pullers included A Star, No Where to Run and How It Is which have earned airplay on FM 101 Power.

In an interview, Queen Complex, a student at Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA), said she is finalising her mixtape.

“I have 11 tracks at the moment and I am planning to release a mixtape in November. Expect more from me,” she said.

Team XI started with 35 members, but now has 65 musicians, DJs and dancers. Its publicist, Patrick Botha, said they will organise another talent show to welcome new signings.
