Teams continue to tune up for new season

Super League clubs at the weekend continued to tune up for the new season by playing friendly matches.

Nyasa Big Bullets beat Nsanama Select 3-1 at Nsanama in Machinga on Saturday.

Mussa Manyenje, Muhammad Sulumba and new catch Ernest Petulo were on target for the People’s Team.

Bullets were taking on Liwonde Road Block FC as we went to press yesterday. Last week, they beat Balaka Select 3-0 in their first pre-season friendly.

Be Forward Wanderers travelled to Ntcheu for their first pre-season friendly where they emerged 3-0 victors over Lake Valley at Thumbo Stadium.

After a goalless first half, the Nomads were a reorganised side in the second half.

Precious Msosa, who has returned from a loan stint at Masters Security, scored a brace while gangly forward Ishmael Thindwa scored the other.

The Nomads also featured their new signings Lucky Malata, Precious Sambani and Fransisco Madinga.

Their team manager Stevie Madeira said: “Having trained a couple of weeks, the coaches felt it was ideal to play a friendly match and try some combinations.

“We were up against a small team, but they gave us a good run.”

Reigning champions Kamuzu Barracks lost to Salima Select 1-0 while Moyale Barracks played out a one-all draw against Zolozolo Select in Mzuzu.

Silver Strikers edged Dwangwa United 3-2 while Blue Eagles and Masters Security also played out a two-all draw.
