Ephesians 6: 1-3

“Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy life on earth”.

Collosians 3:20

“Children, obey your parents in everything for this pleases the Lord”.

As a child, you are to obey your parents as unto the Lord and this requires submission. However, on issues that are against the requirements of God, you as a child are exempted from doing them but you need to politely express your faith, so that the parents understand your position in Christ. To honour means to give something or someone the value worthy and in regard to your parents, they need your respect. You need to highly give them value they are worthy. Remember the verse above says that this is the first commandment with a promise. If you obey and honour your parents, things will go well with you and you will live long on earth.

Exodus 23:2

“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong”.
