Silver Strikers general secretary Mike Tembo, who is eyeing a similar post in the March 14 Super League of Malawi (Sulom) elections in Salima, has released a manifesto.

The manifesto hinges on a five-point plan whose highlights include taking back Sulom secretariat to FAM’s Chiwembe Technical Centre building.

He also promises to restructure Sulom secretariat by hiring an accountant and a marketing officer. Additionally, Tembo will revise prize money in various categories and accommodate at least two sponsors for the league and “enhance competition among our players.”

“The current football activities require a lot of FAM interventions and moving to next door within the same building will help speed up matters as they arise from time to time. It will also build confidence in several sponsors as they may be approached from time to time,” Tembo explained.

However, Sulom president Innocent Bottoman, who has no challenger, has promised to acquire a building for the secretariat. Sulom used to be housed at Chiwembe, but relocated after a fall-out with FAM.

He will also ensure harmonised fixtures released in advance and ensure that teams get 50 percent from gate collections. Sulom members will also be barred from handling gate money.

“The current administrators did not go wrong in all the areas of their operations, but a need for fresh ideas is what is required for the sport to move forward,” Tembo concluded.
