Silver Strikers FC has welcomed back renegade striker Blessings Tembo who dumped the club and joined Blantyre-based Be Forward Wanderers in January this year.

The Bankers’ former captain signed a three-year deal with the Nomads as a free agent but severed ties three months later, citing the Lali Lubani Road outfit’s failure to honour contractual agreement as the reason.

Back at Silver: Tembo

“I can confirm that we have forgiven Tembo for dumping us in a dishonourable manner. Now, we are ready to take him back into our fold. We are just waiting for a clearance from Wanderers and Football Association of Malawi [FAM],” Silver general secretary Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda said yesterday.

Tembo, who is yet to start training with the Bankers, said he is happy that Silver Strikers have not turned their back on him.

“I know I made a mistake by ditching Silver and I am glad that the club has forgiven me. Once I return to action, I will diligently offer my services and I cannot wait to don the colours of the Lilongwe-based outfit,” he said.

At Wanderers, he was promised K4.5 million signing on fee and a monthly salary of K400 000, but the Nomads’ delay to fulfill the agreement prompted him to terminate the deal.

Wanderers claim the player failed to impress the technical panel.

The midfielder featured for Wanderers in Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League against AS Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). n
