Technical Entrepreneurial, Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) plans to conduct mobile training workshops targeting youths in the informal sector in Likoma District.

Teveta Regional Service Centre (North) manager Joseph Chikopa said this on Friday during a meeting with Likoma Informal Skills Training Providers Association.

Chikopa: Youths lack capacity

He said Teveta noted that there are many youths who have skills, but lack capacity to engage in income generating activities.

“We have partnered with Finca to provide loans to trainees as a start-up capital,” said Chikopa.

Likoma Informal Skills Training Providers Association chairperson Bester Mphepo thanked Teveta for the initiative.

He said: “We are also pleased that Teveta came to monitor our activities.

“However, we urge them to intensify the training as there are still gaps in the acquisition of vocational skills among the youth.”
