Textile Networking Group in Mother Day exhibition

The Lilongwe Women in Textiles Networking Group (LWTG) on Mother’s Day held a day-long textile exhibition dubbed Mothers Day Fashion Textile Exhibition.

The exhibition took place at Game parking area in Lilongwe on Wednesday.

On display were Malawi ethnic printed fabrics, clothing, conference folders, and footwear, textile decorating, made by all sectors of the textile trade in the country.

Dazzling textile traditions were showcased attracting tourists and local Malawians to the pavilions.

In an interview, interim chairperson Beatrice Villie Chibonga, said the exhibition is one effective way of establishing and maintaining customer relations.

“The purpose behind hosting the expo is not only about showcasing these products but also to network as assist each other in the development of the industry.

“This is a place to consolidate business relationships, solve specific problems, finding new markets, appointments with agents and also obtaining technical knowledge and business needs in a neutral environment.” she said.

The show displayed exhibition of textile products produced by the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country’s textile sector. Modes paraded products and services ranging from upholstery deco to wrappers and clothes and many more ways in which textile is used

She said the exhibition is a focal point of the industry attracting a broad cross section of representatives from buyers and sellers to trade associations

She added those exhibitions are recognized launch pad for new products, and an extremely time efficient way to keep up to date with the latest innovations in the textile industry in the country.
