Lucius Banda has announced that he will release The Best of Lucius Banda next month. The self-proclaimed soldier, told The Nation yesterday that he will not be releasing a new album anytime soon as he will be busy with his political campaign.
Lucius will today [Monday] battle it out with fellow party members in the UDF primaries for the Balaka North Constituency.
On whether politics will interfere with his music career, Lucius was quick on the defensive, saying with powers accrued from being an MP, he will push for policies that will help musicians and artists at large.
“There are issues such as the culture policy and piracy which have for a long time been sidelined and if I get a chance to be in Parliament again, I will address these issues,” he said.
Laying his plans for 2014, Lucius said he would like to sign more female artists in order to bridge the gap prevalent in the entertainment industry.
“There are a few female musicians in the country, and among the few that are there, most of them are gospel musicians so I want to bridge that gap,” said Lucius, whose last album is last year’s Time.
