The Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) has welcomed into its fold a newly formed women’s basketball team called The Blue Eagles.

The women’s league will start on May 7 with a warm-up tournament.

Cezobal vice-chairperson Barlett Mafuleka confirmed The Blue Eagles’ coming into the women’s league that has eight teams.

He said the development is good for women’s participation in the league.

Meanwhile, the league has announced that because of the extension of the mourning period for president Bingu wa Mutharika, the men’s league will resume on May 7.

“Fixtures for the first round will be reworked and circulated before the start of the games,” said Mafuleka.

Because of the mourning period, the league has also postponed the international four-team tournament that was supposed to take place on May 4 to a later date.
