The place of relationships among Christian youth

Listen to this article

Being in a relationship is not a problem.  The Bible records that Mary and Joseph were in a relationship; Luke 1: 26, 34. However, those who engage in a relationship must ask themselves this question: Why are we involved in this relationship?

The motive behind the relationship is what matters the most. If your motives are wrong and do not agree with God’s Word, do not get involved in the relationship. Most young people get into relationships for the wrong reasons, such as sex and for this reason these relationships do not last.

Dangers of sex before marriage

Sex outside marriage is sin and has a lot of disadvantages, 1 Corinthians 6: 9, 12-20, 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-5, Deuteronomy 22: 13-30

lYou sin against God

lYou sin against your parents

lYou sin against your own body

lYou sin against your pastor

lYou sin against your church

lYou sin against the one who will marry you

Sex outside marriage will cause you to sell out your virginity to someone who might not become your spouse, thereby denying your future spouse the most precious gift one can give to their loved one; their virginity.

Sex outside marriage will cause you to divide yourself, and share these bits of yourself with different people whom you have sex with. This can result into lack of satisfaction in your sexual life when you get married; 1 Corinthians 6: 16-18.

Sex outside marriage will create mistrust between the two of you when you do get married.

Sex outside marriage leads to the breakup of relationships which could have resulted into marriage.

Sex outside marriage can result in the conception of illegitimate children, who attract a curse which goes up to the tenth generation- Deuteronomy 23: 2, Zachariah 9:6.

Sex outside marriage can cause you to contract sexually transmitted diseases, some of which if not properly treated can make you unable to have children once married.
