Days after failing to release his first single for 2021 due to injuries sustained in an alleged assault by police, musician Janta has finally released Ndapeza Wina.

In an interview, Janta said he is now feeling better and was able to finalise the single. The artist sustained neck injuries after he was allegedly attacked at night by police officers as he was travelling in his car with friends. The officers are said to have accused him and his friends of not wearing face masks.

Janta: I am celebrating love in general

“The new song is not about me. It is just a song celebrating love. It is a dedication to everyone who has gone through a lot and has finally found the one whom they love,” said Jatna.

Contrary to public perception that the song is about his failed marriage last year, he said he composes music based on what he observes around him.

“Love is a beautiful thing and it needs to be celebrated. I am celebrating love in general,” said Janta.

He said the single will be part of an extended playlist (EP) set for release later this year.

“I made my real breakthrough last year. This year, I will release an EP which will have a song featuring Mr Brown from South Africa. It will also have five other songs,” said Janta.

In part the song goes:

Kale mnali chitonzo, nsima ndinkadyera ku nthiko

Pano zonse zija zatha

Ndapeza omvana naye

Chikondi chakochi, chimandipatsa kunanalara

The song, recorded and mixed at his SU Records Studio, was produced by Henwood.
