In a build up to the forthcoming Mwezi Wawala Arts Festival slated for August 30 to September 1, 2013, organisers continue to keep the venue Nanzikambe Arts Café, busy this Friday with a jazz music show and the next day, a theatre performance.

Last weekend saw a music and drama performance by Lusubilo Band and Lions Theatre respectively. The Friday show which is headlined by Dingie Chimalizeni will treat the patrons to a night of jazz music.

“I have a good sound system and a collection of jazz music from around the world. It will be memorable night for jazz lovers,” says Chimalizeni who has performed jazz music for over 10 years.

On Saturday, the café hosts a Chikondi Makina led Ensemble Travelling Theatre. The group will mark their return with a premiere of their satirical play, The Broken Covenant.

This play tackles real life issues of love, and the tradition of marrying off young girls before they are ready.

According to the café’s project officer Misheck Mzumara, the gates will be opened at 6pm for both shows and the bar and restaurant will offerservices at affordable costs.
