Police have recovered three bodies believed to be of those among eleven people who went missing in Nsanje on Monday after a boat they were sailing in hit the river bank at Port-Shire and capsised.

While confirming the development in an interview, Nsanje Police Officer-in-Charge, Kirby Kaunga, cast doubt on the possibility of finding the remaining eight people alive.

He said law enforcers and some community members found the bodies of the he three—two women and a child—some kilometres away from Port-Shire.

The three have not yet been identified, according to Kaunga.

“The timeframe at which a person might survive in water has passed and I do not think we might find anyone alive,” said Kaunga.

The bought was carrying 15 people and only four managed to swim ashore, surviving with minor injuries.

The 15 met their fate while heading to their gardens in Mozambique.
