Three Impala players flop at Kabwafu

Super League debutants Kabwafu FC have sent home three Impala FC players for failing to make the grade during trials.

Strikers Sikazo Sumphi, Kennedy Nkhata and defender John Kayange left their Chitipa-based Premier League side in February this year to try their luck at Kabwafu in Mzimba.

In an interview on Monday, Kabwafu team manager Starvens Zgambo said the players are good, but tactically failed to fit in their club’s football standards.

“The boys played their lungs out in their last assessment when Super Eagles beat us 3-2 in a Presidential encounter, but they failed to impress our coach Oscar Kaunda,” said Zgambo.

Impala FC coach Wilberforce Longwe confirmed that his boys returned home, but said one of them was still waiting for results of the trials, one was injured during assessment and the third returned on personal grounds.

Meanwhile, Zgambo has revealed that they want to recruit 17-year-old Super Eagles FC striker Chawanangwa Kaonga to sharpen their frontline. But Eagles team manager, Steve Kachimanga, said Kaonga is going nowhere because he is still in school.
