Three uncapped players—defenders Bashir Maunde and Francis Mulimbika as well as midfielder World Nkuliwa—are among the Flames squad of 20 players that is expected to leave for Tanzania by road today.

The Flames will face Tanzania’s Taifa Stars next Monday in a friendly match in Mbeya to commemorate opening of a new stadium.

Flames_training_kamuzu_stadiumCoach Young Chimodzi has expressed satisfaction with the players’ fitness unlike when they were thrashed 4-1 by Zimbabwe on March 5 at Kamuzu Stadium.

“They are now in good shape and the Tanzania game will provide us an opportunity to assess them and select those that will be joined by foreign-based players for the forthcoming 2015 Afcon preliminary game against Chad,” said Chimodzi.

He cited Kamuzu Barracks midfielder Nkuliwa as one of the most outstanding players during training.

Defender John Lanjesi, midfielders Ndaziona Chatsalira, Phillip Masiye and strikers Green Harawa, Rodrick Gonani and Diverson Mlozi will be making a return to the team after a lengthy absence.

Others in the squad are Richard Chipuwa, Charles Swini, Pilirani Zonda, Emmanuel Zoya, Frank Banda, John Banda, Douglas Chirambo, Gastin Simkonda, George Nyirenda, Micium Mhone and Young Chimodzi Jnr.
