Three qualify for FMB cricket knockout semis

Gold Fattani, Kukoma and Polypack have progressed into the semi-finals of the K1 million FMB Knockout Cricket Social Tournament following their victories on Sunday.

Gold Fattani beat Siku by 134 runs in 18.5 overs. Siku were all out in 20 overs. Fattani owed their success to outstanding displays by Sohel Saleh and Sarfaraz Rayli, who made individual contributions of 60 runs and 40 runs respectively.

Kukoma outsmarted Mapeto by 17 runs after making 150 runs in 20 overs, thanks to Shani and Imran Khan, who made 38 and 32 runs respectively.

Polychem were on song following their thrilling 203-38 runs victory over Xerographics. Imtyaz Badat stood to be counted for the victors after making 58 runs and claiming five wickets.

Anchor, who beat OG Issa by 80 runs after making 170 runs, will face Fazal at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) on Sunday morning to determine who occupies the last semi-final slot, according to one of the organisers, Saeed Limdawala.

“Gold Fattani will take on Kukoma in the first semi-final at the Oriental Cricket Club this Sunday. Polypack will wait for the winner between Anchor and Fazal,” said Limdawala.

  1. looking forward to seeing the Malawi Cricket team go international. Am based in South Africa and ppl ask me if Malawi has cricket teams. I find it hard to say it because I left home when few teams were being introduced. More funding has to be pumped into the sport just like football and lets see where it takes us, even if Indians dominate the field, there is no worry, because they are Malawians. Bravo
