Unidentified thugs attacked Mighty Wanderers chairperson George Chamangwana in Blantyre on Tuesday night, leaving him with head and arm injuries.

His elder brother Jack Chamangwana said on Wednesday that George was driving from Michiru suburb, where he had gone to watch football at a friend’s place, when he was attacked.

“They blocked the road and hacked him on the left arm and head. They stole his mobile phone, but he is now feeling better,” said Chamangwana.

Wanderers general secretary David Kanyenda confirmed that his chairperson was as of yesterday morning admitted to Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Blantyre.

George played for Wanderers, just like his elder brother, before becoming team manager and chairperson a few years ago.
